about this shell...
Perfect, pure white Granulated Cowrie (also called "Bumpy" Cowrie) Shell necklace. These rare shells are the ones traditionally used when found in much smaller sizes for the Niihau Kahelelani and Momi Shell Leis from the Forbidden Island of Niihau. It is rare to find one of this size in such pristine condition, as they are usually found cracked or broken and show extreme signs of wear when found this large (the "bumps are usually worn down). This is a very beautiful specimen, is 1 1/4 inch in size and makes for a unique traditional Hawaiian Seashell piece of jewelry.
Set with a North Shore Puka Shell affixed to the back, the Cowrie Shell seems to float on the natural twisted cord 20 inch necklace, with Puka Shell and loop closure. A perfect accessory for the Hula Dancer.
A MonicaByTheShore original Hawaiian Seashell jewelry design, hand made with Aloha on the North Shore, Haleiwa, Hawaii.
